Delany’s elegant, luminous cut-paper flowers rival the
finest botanical paintings of her time. Beginning in her seventies,
Delany (1700–1788) hand-cut these delicate florals to
life size by eye, using paper from China, paper from wallpaper
manufacturers, or paper that she dyed. More than two centuries
later, her extraordinary work continues to inspire and amaze.
